Mohammedan Sporting Club came from two goals down to beat Muktijoddha Sangsad 3-2 in their Bangladesh Premier League match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. Chittagong Abahani sealed their first win of the league in the other match of the day when they edged Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society thanks to an 18-minute strike of Sumon Ali.Mohammad Biplob and Enamul Haque put Muktijoddha ahead in the first-half before two late penalty goals from Guinean striker Ismail Bangoura and substitute midfielder Mohammad Ibrahim rescued the day for Mohammedan.
With their second successive win, Mohammedan moved to the second position of the points table with 12 points from six matches. Muktijoddha have equal points from same number of matches but that could ensure only fourth position on goal difference.
Muktijoddha dominated the first-half with some sublime moves but they had to wait till the 40th minute to take the lead.
Muktijoddha skipper Enamul provided a defence-splitting through pass to set Biplob free and the forward slotted the ball past an onrushing Mohammedan keeper Nehal to open the scoreline.
Enamul continued his fine form when he doubled the lead four minutes later.
Senegalese forward Camara Sarba received a through pass from Faisal Mahmud before providing a low cross to Enamul inside the box. The experienced campaigner made no mistake to place the ball home to score his sixth goal of the league.
Ismail Bangoura reduced the margin 10 minutes into the second half for Mohammedan by converting a penalty awarded to them for a handball.
Ibrahim came off the bench in the stroke of hour-mark to level the margin in the 80th minute when he tapped the ball home following a low cross of Towhidul Alam Sabuz.
Bangoura sealed the victory by converting another spot kick in the 83rd minute after he was pushed down inside the box by defender Ashraful Karim.
