Pace bowler Muktar Ali’s four wicket haul and a brilliant half-century by opener Mahbubul Karim helped Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club clinch a comfortable eight-wicket win against Kalabagan Cricket Academy in the Dhaka Premier League on Sunday. Muktar picked 4-19 as KCA were bundled out for 152 runs in 44.3 overs and later Mahbabul’s 72-ball 78 with seven fours and three sixes to ease them toward an easy win as they reached 153-2 in 26.4 overs at Fatullah.
Marshall Ayub made unbeaten35 runs while skipper Mahmudullah scored 21 not out and added unbroken 44 runs for the third wicket to guide their side home.
Mahmudullah hailed his fast bowler for the performance.
‘Muktar really bowled well and deserves all the credit,’ said Mahmudullah
‘It was not a wicket where pace bowlers received lot of support so he had to bowl with his heart out as well as use his intelligence.
‘He opted to bowl at a very tight line and length to put the opponent batsmen into pressure and eventually was rewarded through claiming those wickets.
Along with Muktar, Mithu bhai[Mahbubul Karim] also had a very good game and his knock helped us win it without much of a difficulty,’ said Mahmudullah.
