Muktijoddha Sangshad KC kept their hopes of securing the runners-up position of the Bangladesh Premier League alive after a narrow 1-0 win over Feni Soccer Club at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday. With the win, Muktijoddha moved to third place with 46 points from 26 matches, three points adrift of second placed Abahani Limited, who will play their last match today against Chittagong Abahani.
A point against Chittagong Abahani will be enough for the Sky-Blues to seal their second spot in the league.
But if Abahani lose their today’s match and Muktijoddha win their last match against Uttar Baridhara they will take the runners-up position by virtue of goal difference.
In the game, Muktijoddha went ahead in the 34th minute when Nigerian forward Sunday Chizuba entered the box and cut a low cross to his compatriot Eleta Kingsley, who sent the ball home with a cool finishing.
Muktijoddha wasted a chance to double the lead in the 57th minute when Nigerian marksman Nkowcha Kingsley’s shot was deflected by a Feni Soccer defender Akramuzzaman Liton for a corner.
