Musaddek Hossain scored an unbeaten 110 to help the Bangladesh Under-19s post a total of 286-4 in the first innings of their one-day match against the England Under-19s in Sleaford on Wednesday.
Openers Shahriar Sumon and Sadman Islam put together an opening stand of 57, before two quick wickets brought Musaddek to the middle to join Sadman at 64-2. The pair batted into the 44th over before Tom Barber bowled Sadman for 86 off 126 to end their 162 run partnership.
Bangladesh plundered 59 runs in the last six overs, as Musaddek accelerated to finish with nine fours and two sixes in his 113-ball innings. Barber finished with two wickets but went for 8.14 runs per over in his seven.
Only Miles Hammond managed to keep the Junior Tigers in check, allowing just 34 runs in his 10 overs, as the rest of the England bowled unit took a beating in the first match of the tri-series, which also features the Pakistan Under-19s.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh A team currently touring England suffered a narrow defeat on Wednesday, as the Bangladesh A team fell to Hampshire by 8 runs in Southampton.
All six Bangladeshi bowlers were among the wickets as Hampshire were bowled out 223, but the ‘A’ side could only manage 215/9 as their 50-over chase fell short. Liam Dawson scored 97 off 87 balls for the hosts.
Elias Sunny finished with 45 not out and number 11 batsman Robiul Islam clubbed 34 off 19 balls, bringing life to a game that had looked well out of reach. Marshall Ayub also scored 39 for the visitors.
