National skipper Mushfiqur Rahim sustained a back injury on Wednesday and his status remains in doubt for the rest of the Victory Day Twenty20 Cup.
Mushfiq, who is leading Abahani Limited in the competition, sustained the injury while batting against Prime Bank on his way to a second successive half-century in the tournament.
Abahani management decided not to send him out to field in the second innings as he did not feel well, and in the evening they sent him to Ibne Sina Hospital in Sylhet for an MRI.
‘Mushfiq is not certain for our next game,’ said Abahani coach Abdul Karim Jewel.
‘But unless we receive the MRI we cannot tell the exact depth of his injury.’
Mushfiq did not have a very easy time in the middle, as Prime Bank pace bowler Rubel Hossain hit his elbow with a beamer earlier in the innings.
