Bangladesh’s pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman underwent a successful shoulder operation on Thursday at around 9pm Bangladesh time under surgeon Andrew Wallace at Fortius clinic in England.
‘His operation was successful and we are wishing him for a quick recovery,’ Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Jalal Yunus told New Age on Thursday night. The operation started at 4:10pm local time and took nearly an hour. He will spend the night at today [Thursday] and will be released in the morning.’
BCB president Nazmul Hasan and chief physician Debashish Chowdhury accompanied Mustafiz at the hospital before his surgery.
Earlier, prime minister Sheikh Hasina wished him good luck and an early recovery via a telephone call before the operation. Bangladesh skipper Masharafee Bin Murtaza also wished for a quick recovery for the young fast
bowler.
Mustafiz had taken advice from two shoulder surgeons in England –Lennard Funk and Tony Kocchar – to assess his condition and his reports were also sent to Australia’s David Hoye for his observation.
He aggravated his injury during his short stint with Sussex at the NatWest Twenty20 Blast, where he played only two games before being ruled out due to injury.
Mustafiz’s second arthrogram report reconfirmed a grade-2 tear in his bowling shoulder.
