Nabanna Utshab1420, harvesting season in late autumn, was observed colourfully on Wednesday by Dalit Matua Community at Natun Bazar in Barisal.
Participants in the festival called for an end to communal violence and observing the festival nationally. Matua Sampradaya, the Hindu Dalits sect of farmers, agricultural workers and followers of Hari Guru Thakur, organised the festival of harvest beginning on the first Wednesday of Bangla month of Agrahayan (Nov-Dec).
The festival programmes included clourful procession, religious rituals, farmers’ reception, discussion, voluntary blood donation camp, food festival, cultural function and traditional games.
