BCB North Zone batsman Naeem Islam and Prime Bank South Zone paceman Robiul Islam were fined Tk 20,000 each for breaching the ‘Code of Conduct’ during the third day’s play of their Bangladesh Cricket League opening round match. The two cricketers were punished for using abusive language towards each other and bringing the game into disrepute just before tea on Tuesday at BKSP-3.
The occurrence was reported by on-field umpires Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and Mahfuzur Rahman. The players were found to be guilty of a Level-2 offence under clause 2.2.8 of the tournament’s ‘Code of Conduct’.
Match referee ASM Roquibul Hassan then imposed the fines on the two cricketers.
Elsewhere, Islami Bank East Zone pace bowler Shafiul Islam was replaced in the squad by Abu Zahid Chowdhury Rahi.
Shafiul is recuperating from an ankle injury and is not expected to start the second round match on January 18.
