Bangladesh’s all-rounder Nasir Hossain was finally granted a Canadian visa under special arrangement to play in an exhibition match in Toronto on Saturday.
Earlier, the Canadian High Commission in Dhaka had denied Nasir the visa he sought to play the KAT ROSE Twenty20 Cricket All-Star Exhibition match for the Asia XI against International XI at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, the home of Major League Baseball’s Blue Jays.
Nasir was treated like some Pakistani cricketers who were also denied the visas. However, a last-ditch
attempt by the match organisers and the Bangladesh Cricket Board helped him get the visa finally on Thursday.
Nasir was preparing to fly out to Canada when this report was filed on Thursday evening. He is expected to reach Toronto today, hours before the match starts. Nasir will get $5000 as match fee for his participation in the game.
