Victoria Sporting Club captain Nasir Hossain took a swipe at the Bangladesh Cricket Board for scheduling their Dhaka Premier League opener against Kalabagan Cricket Academy at the BKSP venue despite knowing the weather conditions. The match between reigning champions Victoria against newly-promoted Kalabagan at BKSP had to be abandoned on Tuesday without a ball being bowled after continuous rainfall on Monday night ended all possibilities of a game taking place.
‘If the [players] can tell that there is no chance of playing a match here, why can’t the BCB know?’ asked Nasir on Tuesday.
Even though there is a reserve day for the match, several officials confirmed that it would not be possible to host any matches at BKSP for the next five days and that the two sides will eventually have to share their points.
The BCB took notice of the situation and shifted the September 13 match between Abahani Limited and Cricket Coaching School to another venue.
A Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis official said on Tuesday that they are planning to shift the Abahani-CCS match to the Fatullah Stadium.
‘We are drafting the letter to inform them about the new venues. There is a clause in the by-laws that gives us the option to change the venue with 24 hours’ notice,’ said the CCDM official.
