Women and Children Affairs ministry (MoWCA) on Saturday revealed the national action plan for ‘Women Development Policy 2011’ to ensure equal opportunity and rights as well as involvement of women in mainstream national development. The activities of the action plan will be implemented in three phases such as short term, mid-term and long term, Women and Children Affairs Minister Meher Afroze Chumki MP said at a press conference in a city hotel.
MoWCA Secretary Tarik Ul Isalm,Jatiya Mahila Sangstha chairman Mumtaz Begum were present at the press conference.
The government has taken initiatives to ensure nomination of 50 per cent women candidates including formation of law in all type of local government election, the action plan said adding that all elected women representatives will get work responsibility under the short term plan.
The government will allocate specific election area for the representatives of the 50 reserved seats of National Parliament.
A monitoring team comprising of government, non-government organisations will be formed to ensure equal wage.
MoWCA will emphasise the direction of the High Court (HC) in the case of patwa and the direction of MoWCA will be included in forming gender related law, the national action plan said.
In the direction of the HC, formation of new law, amendment of existing law and domestic help protection act and regulations will be formed to ensure prevention of sexual harassment under mid term work plan.
A total of 50 per cent of women candidate will be ensured in the local election under long term plan.
Meher Afroze Chumki MP said the action plan will establish a link between government, non-government organizations, women development workers and development associates regarding women development issues.
