Different genres of Nazrul were presented at a musical programme organised by Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha at the
Chhayanaut Auditorium on Sunday evening.
The show began with a chorus presentation of the Nazrul song titled Jug jug dhori loke loke mor by the artistes of the Sangstha in fast tempo revealing the zeal of the inspiring songs created by the rebel poet.
Being a true patriot, Nazrul who not only fought for the country against foreign colonisers but also created some very heart touching songs depicting the beauties of the country. Such a song is Khati sonar cheyeo khati, which compares the purity of the soil of Bangla with the purest gold, was presented by the chorus.
As a true non-communal yet a spiritual poet, Nazrul created numerous Shyama and also Hamd Naths. The song Sudur Makkah portraying the poet’s passion for the holy city for the Muslims was performed by Ahmed Maya Akhtari. Sajia Hossain Poity, on the other hand, rendered one of Nazrul’s most popular shyama song Shyama naamer laglo chhowa.
Nazrul was also a poet of love who portrayed love from different perspectives. The melancholic side of romantic love was revealed through the gloomy tone of the song Laili tomar esechhe phiriya sung by Mustari Hossain Panna. Nusrat Jahan Runa also presented the beauty of Nazrul’s melancholic song through her presentation of Jedin ami roibo na go.
The programme was enjoyed by a commendable number of audiences. Nasrin Akter Shilpy, who is a music student of Chhayanaut, shared that she is a great fan of Nazrul songs. ‘Nazrul songs address all the facades of human emotions and that is why I love his songs,’ shared Shilpy.
