Bangladesh Bank on Sunday asked the non-bank financial institutions to include six-month maternity leave in their human resource management policy.
The BB issued a circular to managing directors and chief executive officers of all NBFIs asking them to send the policy with the approval of their respective board of directors to the Department of Financial Institutions and Markets of the central bank by August 30.
The BB circular said that the NBFIs would implement the six-month maternity leave as per guideline of a finance ministry’s circular issued on January 9, 2011.
A BB official told New Age on Sunday that the central bank had issued another circular on February 10, 2011 to the NBFIs asking them to grant their female staff to enjoy six-month maternity leave following a finance ministry circular in this regard.
The BB issued the fresh circular as some NBFIs are reluctant to grant their staff to enjoy the six-month maternity leave, he added.
Bangladesh Bank earlier on March 28 asked the scheduled banks to include six-month maternity leave in their human resource management policy.
