The Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to start the National Cricket League on January 30, a tournament committee official said on Wednesday. The first-class tournament will feature four-day matches at four different venues across the country. The decision was taken after the BCB’s tournament committee sat with officials from participating divisions at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, where they were provided with financial aid. ‘We had given them Tk five lakh to prepare their teams,’ said tournament committee member Ziaur Rahman.
Each team can name 20 players, from which its 15-man squad will be selected. Each team can register five foreign players, but only one will be allowed to play at a time. The NCL start-date had been changed twice already. It was expected to start on December 26 and then later on January 8. Bogra, Fatullah, Rajshahi and Khulna are the league’s four venues.
