The three overseas coaches of the Bangladesh cricket team have introduced new incentives for players in order to motivate them in the ongoing series against New Zealand, team sources said on Wednesday.
Head coach Jamie Siddons, who is mainly looking after the batting, is rewarding the best batsman while Ian Pont and Julien Fountain are rewarding the best fast bowler and the best fielder respectively, said source.
Sakib al Hasan won the prize from Siddons in the first one-dayer for his 58 off 51 balls while the bowling and fielding awards went to Nazmul Hossain and Naeem Islam respectively.
Nazmul played a key role in Bangladesh’s nine-run victory when he did not concede any runs in the first
three balls of his final over in which New Zealand needed 18 runs. Fountain selected Naeem with the help of his software that the Englishman has been using to determine individual contribution in fielding.
The coaches did not name their winners for the second one-dayer, which Bangladesh won by seven wickets. Sources, however, declined to comment on what actually the prize is.
