A group of youths ransacked two fast-food outlets in capital’s New Market following an altercation, in which some working there were beaten up.
The young men smashed the two shops – ‘Blue
Sky Snacks’ and ‘Meatball Fast Food’ – on Saturday night.Bangladesh Chhatra League Dhaka College unit general secretary
Sabik Hassan Swim blamed followers of his president Fuad Hassan Pallab for the assault on the food outlets.
However, Pallab admitted that the outlets
vandalised were his
‘hang-out joints’ but refused any involvement of his supporters or college mates.
Shop-owners did not name those involved in the assault.
‘The police will tell who did it,’ one business leader said after a meeting with New Market Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman around 10:00pm in the night.
OC Mostafizur told
the news agency that ‘some staff of the market had trouble with some youths’ and that ‘it is quite regular’. ‘No one from Dhaka College is involved in this.’
