Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf on Monday said that they were satisfied with the security arrangements in Bangladesh ahead of the Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 2014.
After a PCB governing board meeting in Lahore, Ashraf expressed his contentment with the security measures taken by Bangladesh ahead of the marquee events in the upcoming months.
Ashraf said that he had already met Sartaj Aziz, head of the Pakistani Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and explained the recent turn of events to the Pakistani statesman before saying that they had ‘no concerns’.
‘I met with Adviser of Foreign Office, Sartaj Aziz, and informed him about the Bangladesh security report presented in the ICC meeting,’ said Ashraf.
‘ICC team has found that the situation in Bangladesh has improved and there are no concerns. [ICC] found the situation as “satisfactory”.
‘The ICC team visited there. Our team also went there and it was given the higher priority and [Bangladesh] gave our team the kind of security which is reserved for the PM.
‘They have promised us box security and that we have apprised the FO [Foreign Officer]. The FO will now be taking advice from the PM [Nawaz Sharif] so that we get the clearance,’ concluded Ashraf.
