Clubs and footballers, who have taken advance payment from one club but decided stay or join in another club, are yet to resolve the matter despite a deadline in this regards ends today.
The Bangladesh Football Federation gave the involving clubs and players August 5 deadline, ahead of inter-club players’ transfer, which begins on August 16.
Wingers Zahid Hossain and Shakil Ahmed, defenders Mamun Mia and Nahidul Islam, striker Mithun Chowdhury are few players at the centre of dispute having decided to stay with their current clubs despite taking advanced payments from another one.
Star midfielder Mamunul Islam reportedly joined Sheikh Jamal without letting his current club Sheikh Russel KC know about this move.
Zahid, Shakil, Nahidul and Mamun Mia all reportedly took a part of their proposed contract money from Mohammedan SC before deciding to stay with their current club Sheikh Russel.
Mohammedan are determined mind take them to them club, though the players insisted they are yet to sign any agreement the BFF provided to them.
Last seasons treble-winners Russell also managed to convince Mithun to stay at the club though the diminutive forward reportedly made a commitment to Abahani earlier.
Russell however was unable to convince Mamunul for a similar deal as the striker decided to join Sheikh Jamal DC without giving his present team to exercise their first negotiation right.
The issues related to advanced payment were recently discussed in a meeting of professional football league committee, which later issued a circular stating that the dispute must be resolved by August 5.
However, it appeared neither the club nor the players had any interest in the matter.
The BFF said they can take action if only if a player signs two contract papers.
‘If one player is found to sign more than one registration and contracted players, then the matter will be sent to the Players Status Committee to decide the fate of that player,’ said BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag
‘But if any players sign on vouchers or stamps, it will not be taken in consideration in line with bylaws.’
Alleged players are also relaxed about the matter.
‘The club [Sheikh Russell] told us not worry as they will take care of it,’ said Shakil, one of the accused. ‘I am not aware of the BFF circular. That’s why I did not take any initiative.’
