A subsidiary of the Norwegian-based Jotun Group, which produces paint and coatings, Jotun Bangladesh Limited (JBL) has invested $7.6 million to open its first plant inside the Meghna Industrial Economic Zone (MIEZ).
Jotun Group, with operations in more than a hundred countries is one of the top manufacturers of paints and coatings in the world. For the past six years, Jotun Bangladesh Ltd. has been doing business here.
Md Jashim Uddin, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), inaugurated the plant at the MIEZ in Sonargaon area of Narayanganj on Tuesday.
Mostafa Kamal, the chairman of the Meghna Group of Industries, Silje Fines Wannebo, the deputy head of mission of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka, and Percy Jijina, the managing director of Jotun Bangladesh Ltd. were in attendance.
