One of the leading dance organisations of the country Nrityanchal will perform at Asia Arts Festival in China.
The 13th edition of the festival is going to take place in Kunming city of Hunan province in China from November 18 to 22. ‘It is a great honour for us to be invited by the government of China to perform in Asia Arts Festival,where dance organisations from 20 other countries will also perform,’ said Shamim Ara Nipa, noted dancer and one of the directors of Nrityanchal.
Nipa also informed that a team of 11 dancers including herself and Shibli Mohammad, eminent dancer and one of the directors of Nrityanchal, is leaving Dhaka for Kunming on November 15 for an 8-day trip. The team will be led by the cultural personality Muhammad Jahangir.
Nrityanchal will perform at the inauguration ceremony of the festival. Besides, the troupe will also perform on November 20 and 21. ‘It is a great pleasure that we will perform at the inauguration ceremony of the festival. We have been allotted three minutes for that performance. We are planning to present a pure folk dance of a production titled Janmobhumi at the programme,’ said Nipa, who also informed that the Nrityanchal will get 20 minutes each for two other performances at the festival. ‘We will present a classical dance and a folk dance on those days,’ Nipa further told New Age.
Asia Arts Festival is a regional international arts festival at national level. It is being held since 1998 in different cities of China like Hangzhou, Changchun, Nantong, Zhengzhou, Chongqing, and other cities.
The sponsors of the 13th edition of the festival have decided to theme the festival as ‘Charming Asia, Cultural China, Colorful Yunnan and Beautiful Kunming’ to promote cultural exchanges with other Asian countries.
