After a delay of 23 days caused by errors in answer scripts and work abstention of a section of employees, the National University (NU) authorities published result of honours first year admission test yesterday.
The admission test was held on December 18 last year with some 3.36 lakh appeared at the test against 186,875 seats in different colleges. Some 265,881 students or 79 percent passed this year’s admission test. The result was supposed to be published on December 28 as usually the result gets published within 10 to 12 days.
But, the NU authorities could not publish the result in time as some problems arose while evaluating a number of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets. The OMR machines did not accept many sheets, as those were not collected from answer scripts, said NU officials.
“Yes, some problems arose while evaluating the OMR sheets and we have removed those carefully,” said Mobashshera Khanam, dean of Undergraduate Faculty of NU.
“Those sheets have been evaluated manually,” she told The Daily Star yesterday.
The results will be handed over to the colleges today, said NU officials.
A press release of NU said the result will be available at the websites: http://www.nu.edu.bd/; http://www.nu-ba.info/; http://www.nu-bsc.info/; and http://www.nu-bbs.info/. Students can also get their result by sending 4636 from any mobile number writing ‘nu AT rollNo’ in the message text.
