Wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan made his first List ‘A’ century to help Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Legends of Rupganj by 60 runs in their Dhaka Premier League match on Monday.
Nurul, who made his international debut early in the year, made 108 runs that was the backbone for Prime’s 299-9 before their bowlers bundled out Rupganj for 239 in 45.5 overs at BKSP.
Prime, who were sent into batting, got the early impetus from opening batsman Mehedi Maruf. Although Maruf’s opening partner Yasir Ali scored just two and one-down Sabbir Rahman scored 11 but they got 25 and 42 respectively in first two stands.
Nurul came into the crease in the tenth over at the fall of Sabbir to join Maruf, who eventually got out for 75 off just 64 balls, to carry forward.
The 22-year old batsman struck seven boundaries and two sixes in his 112-ball innings and build a 98-run stand with Indian Sachin Rana, who made 40, to propel his side to a big score.
Nurul got out in the 48th over as the seventh batsman when the score was 285 and although his dismissal barred Prime getting past 300 but it was a commendable score nevertheless.
Nahidul Islam, Alauddin Babu and Asif Ahmed got two wickets each for Rupganj.
In reply Rupganj lost their opener and icon player Soumya Sarkar (17) when the score was 29 and Mizanur Rahman (one) and Mohammad Mithun (six) followed him in quick succession to leave them on 39-3.
Opener Jalaj Saxena made 52 and Asif Ahmed scored 47 but Rupganj could never recover that early damage and their late order batsmen could just reduce the margin.
Rana, who hailed from Haryana and played for four different franchises in Indian Premier League, showed his all-round prowess as he grabbed 4-40 while his new ball partner Nazmul Islam and Rubel Hossain picked up two wickets each for Prime.
With the win holders Prime Bank are now in sixth position in the league table with eight points from seven matches while Rupganj are in fourth with one more point from same number of outings.
