Operation of the Adventure World, a private amusement park near Osmani International Airport in the Sylhet city, resumed on Sunday, 16 months after its closure following a directive of the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation.
The park authorities in a press conference at the Sylhet Press Club in the afternoon sought help of all to keep the park operative.
The park chairman, Jamal Uddin Makaddus, said despite a huge potential, there was not adequate number of amusement centres in the Sylhet city.
He said Adventure World was established in 2004 aiming to address the lack of amusement facilities for the city dwellers.
‘But, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation suddenly cancelled the lease of the Adventure World on May 3, 2009 on allegation that the park authorities had not paid the lease money and took over the park under its management,’ Jamal Uddin Makaddus informed.
‘Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation authorities handed over the Adventure World to us on August 26 after a long legal battle,’ the organisation chairman said.
Adventure World’s director Nazrul Islam, among others, addressed the function.
