More Bangladeshis living in Malaysia illegally were arrested yesterday, the second day of the crackdown on illegal migrants there. With the new arrests, the number crossed 300, Mantu Kumar Biswas, labour councillor of Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, said. He, however, failed to put the exact number of detainees. Meanwhile, Expatriate Welfare Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain remains rigid on his tough stance of not providing any legal assistance to the detained Bangladeshis, who, he claims, did not legalise their papers despite receiving multiple chances. On the first day of the crackdown, at least 255 Bangladeshis were detained.
