Pahela Baishakh was celebrated in different district towns including Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna, Bogra, Mymensingh and
Jessore through colourful programmes.
The main attraction of the celebrations was Baishakhi fairs displaying various agricultural products, handicrafts, toys, cosmetics, and regional cuisines. Rural artistes presented jatra, pala gaan, kabigaan, jarigaan, gambhira, gazir gaan etc in the cultural shows.
A two-day Pahela Baishakh celebrations programme was organised at the Chittagong DC Hill featuring group dance, chorus songs and various other performances.
A similar programme continued for three days near Ruposhi Bridge in Khulna. Baul songs presented by the rural artistes attracted large audiences at the Baishakh celebrations in Bogra.
Dhol dance, snake dance and baul songs were also presented at the Blue Bird School in Sylhet to celebrate the occasion. In Mymensingh, an event was put together featuring drama and traditional music.
