The Pangaon Inland Container Terminal on the outskirts of the capital will go into operation in July, the shipping minister, Shajahan Khan. said on Sunday.
‘Construction work on the terminal at Pangaon under Keraniganj upazila in Dhaka has already
been completed’, he said this while visiting the terminal.
The minister said: ‘Once in operation, the Pangaon ICT would ease traffic congestion on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, reduce container congestion at the Chittagong Port and carrying cost of containers on river-routes’.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority and Chittagong Port Authority jointly constructed the Pangaon ICT spending Tk 177.57 crore.
