Haitian national team footballer Pascal Millien left Dhaka yesterday without playing a league match for treble-winners Sheikh Russel KC after a conflict with the club regarding his payment.
Sheikh Russel president Nurul Alam Chowdhury said that the 27-year-old attacking midfielder decided not to play in Bangladesh because he did not like the overall standard of football in Bangladesh.
Pascal had taken part in a bleep test arranged by the Bangladesh Football Federation and even practised with Sheikh Russel, but he was not a part of the squad for Sheikh Russel’s 2-1 loss to Muktijoddha Sangsad on Tuesday due to illness.
However, a club source said that club officials had promised to pay Pascal $9,000-a-month dollar but changed their minds after his arrival on January 16.
Pascal was apparently ready to play for a reduced contract of $6,500 per month, but the club did not give him a one-month advance, prompting him to leave.
