Ferry operation on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed on Saturday morning after a suspension for 11 hours due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, reports UNB. Mohiuddin Rasel, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha ghat, said they kept stopped ferry services and plying of the water vessels from about 10:00 pm on Friday due to blurred visibility for dense fog. Five ferries-Bhasha Shaheed Barkat, Shahjalal, Matiur Rahman and Kopoti-remained stranded in the middle of the river Padma for the suspension. Around 1000 goods-laden vehicles and passenger buses had to remain in wait at Paturia ghat for the halt to ferry plying. The disruption to ferry movement created a 5-kilometre tailback at Paturia ghat. The ferry services were restored at 9:00am.
