The Police Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday submitted its final report in the case of killing college student Mosarat Jahan Munia giving clean chit to Bashundhara Group managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir who was named as the prime accused.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner for prosecution Jashim Uddin said that they submitted the report before the court on Wednesday as the day was fixed for hearing in the case.
The PBI submitted the final report citing mistakes of facts in the case, said PBI additional police superintendent Sarwar Alam, a supervisor of the case.
Sarwar said that they had sent the final report to DMP prosecution on September 26.
The plaintiff of the case, Mosarat’s sister Nusrat Jahan was also informed about the final report, the PBI officer said.
The police on April 26, 2021 recovered the body of Mosarat hanging from a ceiling fan in a rented flat at Gulshan in Dhaka.
They found photos of Mosarat and Bashundhara MD Anvir in the apartment.
Mosarat’s sister Nusrat filed a case against Anvir on the same night accusing him of provoking Mosarat to commit suicide.
The police found no involvement of Anvir in the death and submitted the final report to the court on July 19, 2021.
On September 6, Nusrat filed another case with Dhaka’s 8th Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children’s Repression.
Bashundhara Group managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, his father and the group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan were among the eight accused named in the case.
