The pioneer league committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation finally awarded the prize money of the Dhaka City Corporation pioneer football league on Thursday
after the conclusion of the league six months ago.
The Pioneer League began on October 9 and ended with the final between Khilgaon Football Academy and Matuiyal Udayan Sangsad on December 19. Khilgaon prevailed in the final 5-4 on tiebreaker.
Champions Khilgaon Football Academy received Tk one lakh as prize money while runners-up Matuiyal Udayan Sangsad pocketed Tk 50, 000.
Arif Khan Joy, chairman of the pioneer league committee, handed over the prize money to the winners.
The BFF and officials of the City Corporation informed in the programme that they will start a training camp for 100 players who were selected from the pioneer league.
‘We chose 100 players from the pioneer football league. We will begin a month-long training camp with them in two
weeks’ time. We are also planning to hold a Super Cup with 20 Super League teams.’
‘We are looking for sponsors and funds to hold the meet. That is an additional program,’ said Joy in a press conference at the BFF House on Thursday.
He also said that the next edition of the pioneer league will begin in time.
The committee is also planning to transfer the best 100 players from the meet to the Sylhet Academy.
Meanwhile, the top three teams – champions Khilgaon, runners-up Matuiyal Udayan and Nasrin Football Academy were promoted to the third division from the pioneer league which is set to get underway in the first week of July.
