Bangladesh Armed Forces today jointly hosted an iftar party in honour of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Senakunja in Dhaka Cantonment.
The Prime Minister went round different tables set for the members of the armed forces and other dignitaries, exchanged greetings with them and enquired about their well-being. PM’s son and eminent computer scientist Sajib Wazed Joy accompanied her when she exchanged pleasantries with the guests. Before the iftar, a special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for the development and advancement of the armed forces as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other victims of the August 15 massacre, martyrs of the War of Liberation and martyred armed forces members.
Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Planning Minister Air Vice-Marshal (retd) AK Khandakar, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Textiles and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui, Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Post and Telecommunication Minister Advocate Sahara Khatoon and Industries Minister Dilip Barua attended the Iftar, among others.
Besides, Labour and Employment Minister Raziuddin Ahmed Razu, Land Minister Rezaul Karim Hira, Environment and Forest Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Economic Affairs Advisor Dr Moshiur Rahman, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed, State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, MP, Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Farid Habib, Acting Chief of Air Staff Air-Vice Marshal Abu Esrar, Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Haque, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena, members of parliament, diplomats and high civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.
