The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, has stressed the need for enhancing bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Philippines and implementation of the bilateral
agreements and MoUs signed between the two countries.
She also underscored the need for regular holding the meeting of the Joint Trade Commission of the two countries for implementing the agreements for mutual benefit of the both countries.
The prime minister said this when outgoing ambassador of the Philippines to Bangladesh Bahnarim Abu Guinomla made a farewell call on her at her office in the city Sunday.
After the meeting PM’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad said the prime minister laid importance on private sector collaboration between the two countries.
In this regard, she suggested more frequent exchange of visits of business leaders to strengthen the trade relations.
Terming Bangladesh a leading exporter of pharmaceutical products, the prime minister said the Philippines could import pharmaceutical products from Bangladesh particularly for government hospitals and clinics at a competitive price.
