Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday strongly condemned the Pakistan National Assembly’s resolution expressing concern over the execution of Bangladesh’s war criminal Abdul Quader Mollah. “We strongly condemn it…there has been a trial of a war criminal in our country (Bangladesh) what’s Pakistan’s business in it? Why are they (Pakistanis) so compassionate for them (war criminals)?” she questioned.
The Prime Minister came up with her strong remarks in her opening speech at a meeting of 14-party alliance at her official residence Ganobhaban in the evening.
She said the war criminals are the citizens of Bangladesh, and the government has now put them on trial as per its election pledge.
“Just think about it, they (war criminals) are the criminals of our country, citizens of our country and they committed crimes against humanity. Now we’re conducting their trial. Who are the Pakistanis to pass the condemnation motion in their Parliament,” she questioned adding that who has given them the right to do so.
Hasina mentioned that Pakistanis are also criminals like the war criminals in Bangladesh. “Their (Pakistanis) military committed genocides, raped women and made arson attacks here. The war criminals were their collaborators. The people of Bangladesh compelled them to surrender and snatched the victory, they should not forget that.”
Hasina, also the president of the ruling Awami League, said the Pakistanis with the condemnation motion in Parliament made it clear that Jamaat and its main ally BNP still cannot accept their defeat in 1971.
The AL chief also came down heavily on former Pakistani cricket star and presently the leader of Pakistan political party Imran Khan for placing this proposal in Parliament.
“Reports have it that Imran Khan is the nephew of then Pakistani military commander in Bangladesh Gen AAK Niazi,” she added.
Expressing her strong condemnation to Pakistan for its motion in Parliament, Hasina said: “Now they (Pakistani) have to know Bangladesh is now an independent country. Yes, here they have their companions, the BNP chief and Golam Azam and his Jamaat.”
The Prime Minister said it has been clear now that the Pakistanis are crying foul for their companions in Bangladesh.
About the recent vandalism and anarchy unleashed by Jamaat and BNP terrorists, she requested the people to have patience. “All have to remain calm, we’ll face the situation, and people have to resist them.”
Regarding the election, Hasina mentioned that the ruling party has so far sacrificed a lot. “We’ve tried a lot to bring them to the election. The nation has got free from the stigma as the people of the country did not need to cast their votes as the war criminals and their companions did not participate in the election,” she added.
The AL chief also said the Constitution get free from the stigma as these people (BNP-Jamaat) did not participate in the election.
Dispelling the confusion, the premier said the next election will take place as per the constitution. “We want to bring peace in the country. I hope that BNP leader will shun her destructive politics.”
