A Dhaka Court yesterday allowed Mirpur police to interrogate Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) Ward Councillor and film actor Monwar Hossain Dipjol at jail gate within two days in a case filed for snatching Tk 5 lakh from a businessman on August 1 this year.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ismail Hossain passed the order after Sub-Inspector Abu Shahed Khan of Mirpur Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Dipjol with a seven-day remand prayer.
Businessman Abdul Kaiyum Talukder filed the case against three to four unidentified people on charge of snatching his money on August 1 this year in the city’s Kazipara area.
In the case statement, the complainant said a group of three-four unidentified robbers attacked them and snatched away Tk 5 lakh after he and his brother Hassan Tarique Talukder withdrew the money from Prime Bank Ltd in the city’s Kazipara branch. The robbers are 25/30 years old.
But the IO of the case mentioned in his forwarding report that Dipjol is 48 years old and he was directly involved with snatching the money.
Dipjol was shown arrested in the case on December 24 this year.
