Dhallywood popular actor Popy will not be seen in any Eid films. But Popy’s die-hard fans need not to be heart-broken as the Dhallywood actress will be seen in three Eid tele-films to be aired on different channels this Eid. The actress said that she enjoyed working with the artistes and crews of the small screen. ‘Though I’m not regular on TV but I enjoy working on TV plays and serials. When I got an offer for a few tele-films from renowned small screen directors, I agreed. I have tried to deliver my best and I hope that the viewers will like them. For sure they will love to watch Nabonita Tomar Jonye and Na Bhalobashini’ Popy hopes.
Popy, who got nationwide popularity since the release of her first film Kuli in1998 is not appearing freuently on the silver screen these days. ‘Film industry is going through a difficult time, we all are trying hard to overcome the situation,’ said Popy who got the national film award in best actress category in 2009 for Gangajatra, in 2003 for Karagar, and in 2008 for Megher Kole Roud.
The actress informed that she has just finished shooting film titled Jiban Jantrona based on the war of independence.
‘I was not yet born during the war of independence,’ the actor said, ‘But, I bear the spirit of the war. When I got the offer I happily signed up for it,’ Popy said.
‘I’ve enacted the protagonist in the film, which features the sacrifice of a female singer during the war,’ she said.
Popy further said that she wishes to enact some historical character that will present her with some real challenge in acting. ‘Sometimes, I wish I could enact the role of the female characters whose names have become part of world history such as Mother Teresa, Margaret Thatcher and others,’
In her acting career spanning over 15 years, Popy has acted in many commercially hit films gaining prominence among Dhallywood audience.
She has expressed her satisfaction acting in films like Abdulliah Al Mamun’s Doriya Parer Daulati, Nargis Akter’s Megher Koley Roud and Samia Zaman’s Rani Kuthir Baki Itihas.
