A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver who sustained burn injuries in a bomb attack by hartal supporters in Savar on November 3, the day before the second spell of the 18-party enforced 60-hour hartal, died at DMCH burn unit early Saturday, reports UNB.
The victim was identified as Asad Gazi, 35, a resident of Jatrabari and son of Sekandar Ali of Baukhal in Patuakhali district.
Hospital sources said Asad Gazi died around 1:45 am at the intensive care unit of the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
On November 3, Asad and two others-Mostafizur Rahman Mukul and Hasu Mia, both employees of Biswas Group-sustained burn injuries when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at their auto-rickshaw near Abdur Rauf
Gate of Savar Cantonment at 10:30 pm.
Of the injured, Mukul died on November 4 while Hasu died another day.
Earlier, on Friday, a man, who sustained burn injuries during the opposition BNP-led 18-party’s countrywide hartal on the night of November 10, succumbed to his injuries at the DMCH burn unit.
The deceased was identified as Montu Pal, 35, son of Bijoy Pal, a resident of Fatullah in Narayanganj.
He used to work at a jewellry shop at Tanti Bazar in old Dhaka.
Montu was inside a human hauler (Luguna) in front of Victoria Park in Old Dhaka.
Suddenly, some miscreants hurled a patrol bomb targeting the vehicle, which left him and his seven co-passengers burnt.
All they were admitted to the DMCH burn unit.
Montu Pal died early Friday morning.
