The ongoing Bangladesh Premier League will undergo an 18-day break from Thursday due to unavailability of grounds, the professional football league committee decided on Tuesday.
The two main venues of the top flight – Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) and Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium – will remain engaged due to the eighth edition of the Bangladesh Games during this period.
The Bangladesh Games is scheduled to get underway from April 20-28 but the BNS will remain busy from a few days earlier for the opening ceremony. The Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur will host the final round of the football event.
The professional football league resumed on April 6 after a 40-day break on Saturday due to the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers and Independence Cup, which ended on April 2.
In another development, the Bangladesh Football Federation also decided to start the Super Cup in the middle of May.
