With a commitment of spreading football outside the capital, JB Bangladesh Premier League has started its official journey through a colourful logo and trophy unveiling ceremony at a city hotel on Monday.
Another grand opening ceremony will be held today in Chittagong, where the ninth edition of the professional football league will get underway on July 24.The logo and trophy unveiling ceremony seemingly provided a new hope of a fresh start of the professional football league.
Saif Global Sports Ltd, the commercial right holders of the Bangladesh Premier League, presented a simple yet elegant programme in which the jersey, flag and captains of the participating teams were presented in a jovial atmosphere.
SGS also composed a theme song [let’s shout for football] and theme video for the forthcoming league.
It is not for the first time that such logo and trophy unveiling ceremony of the professional football league was staged in a grand way.
But there was no reflection of such a successful unveiling ceremony to the performance of the participating teams in past but this time the participating teams promised to give their best to attract the spectators.
‘It could have been better if we could organise the league in seven different venues. Let’s hope for the best. We are getting supports from the sponsors and now I want support from the clubs’, said BFF president Kazi Salahuddin during the ceremony.
‘If we work together, then there is no reason that we cannot raise our football to international level.’
BTV and private satellite television Bhoishakhi TV will live telecast all the 132 matches of the league.
SGS chairman Tarafder Ruhul Amin was also hopeful to make the league a success.
‘We have come forward to bring back the past glory of football. We are going to hold this edition of the league in a different way that will see the matches being played at different venues. But one thing is that the national team will not be benefited if we don’t develop the club football,’ said Amin.
