Popular rock band Prometheus is going to release its 17th album online this month. The title song of the album, Ebhabe din ondher moto cholte parena, has recently been released in the band’s online portal www.prometheusbd.com and in the music portal www.levelzerodb.com.
All the five songs of the album deliver strong social messages.
These songs are actually poems penned by Rezauddin Stalin which have been set to tune by Biplob, who is also the vocalist and guitarist of the band.
The band has already recorded four songs – Emon bedona amake diyechho, Esob amar sojjo hoyna, Shono digbijoy and Ektai – to be uploaded simultaneously.
‘All the songs are responses to the ongoing critical situation all over the country. We are not partisan people. From people’s perspective, we despise any atrocity in society. All the songs of the album carry this message,’ shared Biplob.
Though Prometheus has got popularity as a soft-romantic band, each of the previously released 16 albums featured songs with social messages as in the songs like Milon-er rokto and Swadhinota Chai.
Explaining the reason behind online release band leader Biplob said that production houses these days have shown apathy towards releasing CDs.
‘We have released two albums online since 2010. Through such release, I think, we can reach almost 60 per cent audience. Online release is also profitable,’ Biplob said.
Prometheus was formed in 1986, and has so far released 16 albums. Their last album Amader Path was released last year.
The present line up of the band consists of Biplob on bass and vocal, Sohag on lead guitar, Pallob on keyboard and Shaon on drums.
