Popular rock band of the country Prometheus has launched a social awareness programme to raise awareness among the youth, especially school and college students regarding old home practice.
‘It’s becoming a growing tendency across the world, including our country, to put our elders, our aged parents to old homes,’ vocal of the
band Biplob told New Age.‘To every conscious man and woman, I think, this is a self-degrading practice,’ he continued, ‘It is true that our lives have become fast and commercial to the point of no return, but one’s responsibility towards one’s parents remains the bigger truth.’
Observing the growing trend of old home practice, the band has begun the programme titled Bridhhashram ke Na Balo (say no to old home).
Started on the International Mothers’ Day, the programme, as planned, will try to convey the message that we are responsible to take care of our parents when they grow old. It will also attempt to stir people’s conscience regarding placing one’s aged parents in old homes.
The band has already composed a song, written by Biplob-Je pitamata jonmo dilo amader/ tader proti onek dayitto moder. Students of four distinguished English medium schools- Cambrian School, Oxford International School, Green Herald School and Scholastica- have recorded the song with the band.
The song is available in the band’s website-www.prometheusbd.com.
As part of the project, Prometheus in association with Cambrian College will hold concerts and seminars at different places and in the media.
