State Minister for Law Advocate Qamrul Islam on Wednesday came down heavily on the Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) saying that the TIB report which showed political parties as most corrupt is aimed at assassinating characters of political leaders. The minister said, conspiracy is going on against the country and a vested quarter has been working restlessly to assassinate the characters of the political leaders and to make the judiciary controversial.
“With this aim in view, the TIB has made public its report at this crucial juncture of the country,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city” he told a discussion organised by the Ramseeta Mandir Committee at Wari in the city marking the Rath Jatra festival.
He said the evil forces are hatching conspiracies again to pull the country towards deep darkness and there is a bid again to repeat a situation like that of 1/11 of 2007.
The state minister said, “We all have to build united resistance against the communal forces if we want to build a secular Bangladesh. For the purpose, united resistance should be built against the creators of religious madness.”
The state minister said, “Political leaders are running the state affairs and they will be at the helm of state affairs also in future. Any attempt to assassinate their character will not succeed.”
President of the Mandir Committee Ganesh Chandra Ghosh presided over the discussion, also addressed, among others, by vice-president of Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad Chittaranjan Das, eminent cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam, Krishak League vice-presidents Sheikh Jahangir Alam and MA Karim and general secretary of the Mandir Committee Arun Sarker Rana.
Later, the state minister in presence of the leaders of the Mandir Committee and others formally inaugurated the Rath Jatra festival of Sri Sri Jagannath Dev, one of the festivals of the Hindu Community.
