Incessant rain forced a wash out on the third and penultimate day’s play in the second four-day match between Bangladesh Under-19 and Sri Lanka Under-19 at the Sylhet Divisional Stadium on Thursday.
Rain began pouring down in the north-eastern city from Wednesday night and continued till the early hours of Thursday morning. Even though the weather was clear in the morning, match referee Akhtar Ahmad Shipar inspected the field before deeming it unfit for play.
Almost two days’ play in three days was lost to rain as the Bangladesh Under-19 team were scheduled to resume their first innings on 19-0, still 166 runs behind the Sri Lankan Under 19 team’s first innings score of 185 all out.
The first four-day match between the teams ended in a draw.
