Incessant rain continued for the two consecutive days to end all four first round matches of National cricket league into draws as there was very little play on the fourth and final day of those matches.
There was, however, enough play in Khulna between Khulna division and Dhaka division for the hosts to finish their first innings with a lead and visitors’ left arm Spinner Mosharraf Hossain to pick a seven-for.
Mosharraf ended with a 7-119 but the hosts could pile up a total of 340 thanks to 87 of Mohammad Mithun and 53 from Nurul Hasan.
That gave them a lead of 153 runs over Dhaka, who scored 187 run in the first innings, and a total of nine points from the match.
The hosts got two points for scoring over 300 runs, three for getting opponents all out, three for a draw and one for a first innings lead while the visitors earned six points.
National team fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was adjudged man of the match for his four wicket haul for the Khulna.
In the other Tier-1 match at Bogra, not a single ball was bowled on the final day but hosts Rangpur got some extra points as they could at least declare with their overnight score.
Rangpur were on 266-5 replying Dhaka’s first innings score of 238 all out.
Rangpur scored eight points, one for scoring over 250, three for getting opponents all out, three for a first innings lead and one point for the first innings lead while Dhaka earned four points.
Sylhet also declared their first innings on the overnight score of 352-8 before Chittagong could play just four overs for 36-0 in their Tier 2 match at Fatullah.
The match was called off at 2:15 pm.
Both the teams finished with three points each as the first innings from both the sides could not be completed.
In the other match, hosts Rajshahi salvaged a draw thanks to the rain while they were chasing an improbable score of 370 in the fourth innings of the match against Barisal.
Barisal scored 302 in the first innings before Rajshahi crumbled to 93 all out.
Barisal made 160 runs in the second innings to give Rajshahi a target of 370 and they finished the second day on 25-0 before rain washed away the last two days’ play.
Barisal scored nine points and Rajsahi earned six points from the match.
