The third one-day international between Bangladesh and India was washed out by rain at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday. The play was suspended at least twice before the match officials finally declared the match abandoned at 8:12pm.
India were struggling at 119-9 in 34.2 overs after the first spell of rain made it a 40-over-for-a-side game.
Asked to bowl first, Bangladeshi bowlers did a commendable job, leaving the visitors tottering at 16-4 at one stage.
One-down Cheteshwar Pujara put up some resistance with 27 from 108 balls while skipper Suresh Riana briefly launched a counter-attack to score 25 from as many balls.
Stuart Binny, India’s hero in second one-day match with 6-4, was unbeaten on 25 when rain stopped play for the final time.
Binny was given a reprieve in the first ball when he edged Sakib al Hasan to Nasir Hossain at the slips only for the third umpire to give him a benefit of doubt as the catch came low to the fielder.
Third umpire Anisur Rahman also declared last batsman Umesh Yadav not out to a stumping appeal before rain, though replay suggested the batsman’s heel was on the line.
Sakib, who finished with 3-27, was the unlucky bowler again.
Earlier Taskin Ahmed began from where he ended in his 5-28 debut ODI, picking up a wicket off his first ball to finish with 1-15 in his eight overs. Al-Amin Hossain and Mashrafee bin Muratza also did a fare job having taken 2-23 and 1-25 respectively.
India claimed the three-match series 2-0 thanks to their seven-wicket and 47-run wins in the first two matches.
