The fasting month of Ramzan begins in Bangladesh today. The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision in a meeting after reviewing reports on moon sighting for the holy month of Ramzan. President M Abdul Hamid, Premier Sheikh Hasina and leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia gave separate messages urging Muslims of the country to maintain sanctity of the holy month.
They also greeted the countrymen and all Muslims across the world and prayed for welfare of the country and the Muslim Ummah.on the eve of the Ramzan.
President Abdul Hamid, in his message, said the holy month of Ramzan comes every year with the opportunity of self- rectification and forgiveness.
This month brings about unique opportunities for all to get closer with almighty Allah and attain His mercy, blessings and forgiveness, he added. The President wished the teachings of the holy month reflected in the lives everybody. In a separate message, the premier Sheikh Hasina said Ramzan is the month of self-restraint, compassion and forgiveness. This month is for purification of souls through sacrifices and it creates the scopes for getting closer with Allah.
She called upon all to be inspired with the teachings of the holy month of Ramzan and establish peace, amity and fraternity in personal and social lives, shunning luxury, malice, violence and conflicts.
“Let us come to help one another to establish peace by shunning all ills,” she said and called for maintaining sanctity of Ramzan by exhibiting sense of proportion, patience and restraint in all spheres.
Leader of the Opposition and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia said in her message that the great month of Ramzan teaches all to refrain from all sinful things, including injustice, tyranny and lust.
