Rangs Ltd yesterday launched Mitsubishi Motors’ latest compact, fuel-efficient vehicle to cater to the growing middle-class. Called the Mirage, the
compact car has premium fuel efficiency and low carbon dioxide emission.
“This is our global strategic car, as it meets the needs of emerging countries as an entry-level car, just as an eco-car for advanced markets,” Masahiko Ueki, corporate general manager of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, said at the launch ceremony.
The Mirage, which comes in eight colours, has so far been launched in Japan, Thailand and other Asian countries, and will sell at Tk 20 lakh in Bangladesh.
“The new Mirage has exceeded our expectations since its introduction,” said Ueki, while adding that Mitsubishi plans to take the model to more than 150 countries.
The car, developed in view of the rapid growth in small car market, can seat five adults comfortably and can go 16 kilometres a litre, said Romo Rouf Chowdhury, managing director of Rangs Ltd, the sole distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles.
“The Mirage is just right for the times when demand for eco-friendliness and superior fuel efficiency in light of the rising fuel costs are increasing all over the world,” Chowdhury said.
“The new Mirage will definitely increase Mitsubishi Motors’ presence in the passenger car segment in Bangladesh,” he said.
