Miscreants threw acid on a woman in the Chapainawabganj town Sunday morning while she was going to the court to testify as a witness in a rape case.
The victim, Anjana Karma-ker, 35, daughter of Bibhutib-husan Karmakar, came from village Mushribhuja under Bholahat upazila in the district.
The police said that Anjana, taking a bus from Bholahat, had got down at the Alinagar rail crossing in the town about 9:00am, where a group of men suddenly threw acid on her.
Local people rushed her to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital.
