Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday wrapped up the 1st leg of her two-day electioneering in three districts ahead of the 10th national election calling upon the countrymen to go the polling centers and cast their votes, fully prepared to resist anyone trying to foil the polls, reports UNB. “I’ll call upon you to go to the polling centers and cast your votes for us….you should have the preparations to resist if anyone tries to foil the election,” she said. The Awami League chief was addressing a public rally at the Srinagar Stadium in the afternoon in favour of ruling party candidate Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh wrapping up her two-day trip to Faridpur, Gopalganj and Munshiganj districts.
Alleging that Bangladesh had turned into a country of militancy, terrorism and corruption during the BNP-Jamaat rule, she said that during the last five years, her government has erased that bad name and curbed militancy, terrorism and corruption with iron hand as the people of Bangladesh want peace and development.
Continuing her scathing attack on the opposition leader, she said:
“Oshanti Begum Khaleda Zia’s heart burn when she sees peoples’ peace. She is now killing people, policemen, burning people to death, and she (Khaleda) would have to shoulder the responsibility of such killings. If almighty Allah keeps me alive, Insha-Allah her (Khaleda) trial would be held in the soil of Bangladesh one day for these killings and she would be accused for giving orders.”
Alleging that the BNP along with its close ally Jamaat has been conducting killings, arson, lootings and oppressions 1971 style, the Prime Minister said there will be no place for these killers in the soil of Bangladesh and everyone would have come forward to resist them.
She further alleged that the BNP-Jamaat is not waging a movement, rather killing people in the name of movement and burning people to death in running buses.
Strongly denouncing the killing of a policeman on Thursday by hurling a bomb in Rajshahi, Hasina said: “The BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and her close ally Jamaat have killed the policeman… BNP means killing, oppression, snatching food from hungry mouth, people are now being held captive at home in the name of hartals and blockades while the means of earning of common and day labourers has been stopped.”
