Emotions and silent outbursts of women in a male dominated society are strongly evident in the artworks of Prima Donna, a solo art exhibition, by artist Preema Nazia Andaleeb. The works on display
are abstract in nature and vivid in colors.
The exhibition commenced on May 4 at the Bengal Art Lounge. The innovative and unique artworks at the gallery have already snatched the attention of the viewers.
This is Preema’s 14th solo exhibition and a total of 48 artworks have been showcased. Viewers will be pleased with the vibrant colours and strong composition of the paintings. In her recent artworks, half abstract compositions give a vibe of expressionism.
Titles like ‘Castle in the Sky’, ‘Casting Couch’ and ‘Stare or Not’ speak well for themselves through the dexterity of colour as well as the subject chosen by the artist.
The nude female figures in her paintings reveal women’s urge for freedom in a symbolic manner. The flamboyant colours used in her artworks express absolute boldness and strong disapproval of the patriarchal social system.
‘I just follow my instinct and in the process, I try to experience each and everything that connects to my visual interactions. Art to me is a tool, which encourages me to celebrate life. I am not concerned about any particular style, because I believe artworks have a timeless character’, Preema Nazia expressed her views as a painter.
The show ended yesterday.
