Close-up 1 star Rinku, who has already carved a niche for himself as a singer, is all set to experiment with Tagore songs in his upcoming solo
titled Baul Beshe Rabi Thakur.
His eighth solo album will be released on the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore next month.
‘I wanted to release the album during this Pahela Baishak, however, I was unable to do so for some unavoidable circumstances,’ Rinku told New Age.
‘I am interested in Tagore songs but I’ve never tried this genre before. Being a traditional singer, I wish to experiment with particularly those songs that Tagore had composed being inspired by the bauls’, he added.
The Tagore album will feature eight songs including Amar praner manush achhe prane, Kon phule pujibo ranga choron tomar, Ebar tor mora gange ban dekechhe, Jodi tor dak shune keo na ashey, Jodi tore pagol bole, Bhenge mor ghorer chabi, Ki gabo ami and Amar mon jokhon jaglo na re.
‘I’ve recorded the songs in traditional style where no electrical instrument has been used,’ Rinku said.
During the reality show Close up 1, Mosiur Rahman widely known as Rinku drew the attention of the audience owing to his soulful rendition of Lalon song Kanar haat-bazar. Since then he never looked back.
‘Close up-1 was a strong platform which provided me with a much needed exposure. I became 5th in the contest but that was not my ultimate goal. Since the contest, I have been trying hard to hone my skills,’ Rinku said.
‘I have always been inspired by my family, especially by my maternal uncle, Rabiul Awal, my first mentor,’ he added.
Born in a low-lying area in Chalon bil in Nowga, Rinku stepped into the world of music at a tender age.
While studying at the Rajshahi University, he learnt music from Ustad Mohammad Shahjahan and used to sing at the Bangladesh Betar Rajshahi.
Rinku wants to release one album in a year as he has been doing since 2006. ‘Throughout my journey I will keep in touch with my listeners. I wish to continue singing traditional songs,’ he said.
